Lou the Peacock!

I have been working on Lou's Halloween costume for a couple of weeks now. It all started when I wanted her to be something girly involving a tutu. You would think simple enough, right? Not really, all infant costumes are bunting or a sack of sorts.
I found an easy way to make my own tutu and thought that a peacock would be unique for Lou's first Halloween.
So I started with the tutu. It was pretty easy. It is so big and fluffy that when Lou sits in it I think it is 2 feet on either side.

I then wanted to make a fancy peice
for Lou to wear in her hair. I looked on one of my favorite sites, etsy and saw these fascinators using peacock eyes and flowy feathers. I went on a search for the peacock eyes and found them at a local craft shop as well as puffy feather peice that was exactly what I wanted.

I attached the fascinator to an alligator clip and will be making a nylon headband from a purple, royal blue, or teal green knee-high (I should be able to find one of those around this time of year I hope).

Next was the peacock feathers themselves (the back peice). I really wanted to use a burlesque type marabou fan with peacock eyes, but alas ebay only had ones from Japan (too long to ship!) and there were no fans to be found in Memphis. So I improvised and found peacock eyes at Micheals craft store. I used a kids foam visor from the kids craft section to attach the peacock eyes. I then used a purple feather boa to cover the rest of the visor's surface. Lou will wear these around her chest with a strechy cording covered in purple satin ribbon.
Last night I put the tutu and the back piece together to see how it will look all combined. I think she will look like a peacock! I hope the weather holds out for Saturday night for Zoo Boo at the Memphis Zoo.

Landon is a train conductor this year (imagine that). He loves his costume and is excited to wear it as he wants to put it on everyday or has something to say about it everyday since he got it.
We will either have pictures and a story to post after Saturday night or we will be posting after Halloween next week!
I am so excited for my little ones to enjoy such a fun-filled holiday season! Right around the corner is Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Lately....

I know it has been a while since I have done an update. Though no excuse is a good one, or that is what my mom says; I do have one:

I have had and still have pneumonia. Yes, you heard right. It all started with a nagging cough and then a fever of 103-104 that would not go away. I thought for sure I had the flu. I tested negative, but the doctor said the test was only 80% acurate so I was given medication to treat me as if I had it. Days passed and I still had a fever and was actually getting worse. So back to the doctor I went. They did a chest x-ray and determined I had bilateral pneumonia. Ouch! I missed 6 days of work. I went back to the doctor last week and was told I still have pneumonia but more on the right than the left. I tire easily but am at least back at work. We are hoping when I go back for another chest x-ray in a week or so that it has cleared.

On to more fun things though. Lou is almost 7 months old now. She weighed 14 lbs and was 24 inches long at her 6 month check-up. She is at 10% on the growth chart for both height and weight. She has also had her first ear infection. If it would not have been for her check-up I don't think we would have known. She wasn't fussy or anything (luckily). She is pushing up on all fours and rocking back and forth. She is scooting some, so crawling should not be too far behind! She still does not have any teeth. But they are on the brink of breaking through; very soon we hope!

Landon just had his first test at school and did very well. He got 100% on everything! We are so proud of him. His writing has improved quite a bit since he started school in mid-August. He also memorizes a Bible verse each week. He has a great memory! He takes us just a day or two and he has the verses memorized.

To cap a stressful, busy, and exciting couple of weeks we went to Disney on Ice over the weekend. Both kids loved it. We loved it because it was free. Dennis won tickets through facebook! Landon loved the Cars part and Lou enjoyed all the pretty colors and sounds.

Fall is officially here! We are looking forward to a few games in Oxford at the Grove (Hotty Toddy!) and the new exhibit opening at the Memphis Zoo, Teton Trek. Of course, right around the corner is Halloween and Zoo Boo!

Angel Trumpet

While on our honeymoon in St. Lucia we visited the botanic gardens there. It was beautiful and lush and situated in the rain forest area of the island. The flowers and plants were gorgeous. I fell in love with one in particular, the angel trumpet (this is it's common name, not the species name of course). Once back home, we were doing some landscaping. I came across a local nursery who grew angel trumpets. I was elated! That first year I planted a white one, a year later a yellow, and last year a pink one (hard to find!). The pink one was such a young plant I had to wait until this year for it to bloom. The heat and humidity in Memphis is one thing that is great for this thriving and hearty plant!

The other morning Dennis came in from watering the garden and told me the pink angel trumpet had blooms. At first I thought they were going to be white but another day passed and the blooms turned pink. They are so pretty!

Happy 4th Birthday Landon!!!

We have had so much going on recently. With the audit at work (whew, it's over!!), getting Landon ready for K-4, and his birthday we have been busy!!!
Landon turned 4 on Wednesday. Since Dennis and me planned some vacation time this week we thought we would take Landon to the Pink Palace to see the dinosaur exhibit and the new Under the Sea IMAX movie. We decided it would just be me, Dennis and Landon so Lou went to daycare.
The museum was fun and Landon enjoyed himself. The movie was great and it kept his interest.
After the museum we took Landon to lunch. He loves breakfast so we went to Perkins so he could have exactly what he wanted. He even got new shoes. Though this may not be exciting for some little boys, Landon likes shoes. So he was pleased when he came out with a pair!
The day was long and filled with fun. The best part is he has been celebrating everyday since then with small activities. Today caps off his birthday fun! Meghan (his future wife, as she says) and Sam are coming over to give gifts and eat cake. I finished his cake early, early this morning after finishing another one for a childhood friend's daughter. I have been up since about 4am. It's ok though as I run on little sleep most of the time. I am thinking that a nap in the pool may just be what I need today!!!

Landon's birthday present from us was the pool we put up about a month ago. He has enjoyed it and so have we. We also had a super hero cape made for him. I ordered it from etsy. I love that place. Cool and unique items that are perfect! He has literally worn that cape everywhere. On his birthday we allowed him to wear it while out and about. It was a topic of conversation at most of the places we went Wednesday.

Of course this post is all about Landon, but I cannot help but throw in an update on Lou. She is sitting up unassisted for short amounts of time and her babbling vocabulary has grown. She has also begun crawling, well scooting really. She goes about 2 feet before she tires out. She is still loving all the baby food. I am hoping her teeth come in soon. She has been a little stuffy this week. I think the teeth are a main cause of this. Thank goodness she will sleep in her swing! Keeping her upright has helped her breathing quite a bit!

Handy Work

I know, two posts in one day after my usual dry spell. Oh well, I found the time to add some pictures of some past embroidery work and some new as well. Dennis had the time to upload the pictures so I could add them. Thanks hubby!
Some of these Harper's mommy may remember from about a year ago! Happy Birthday (a little belated) to sweet Harper! Whoo doesn't love an owl!?!

The patterns I use are from http://www.sublimestitching.com/. I love her selection of patterns. It is nice to find patterns that are not so old fashioned!
This one of the darling angel and bee is one of my favorites for a baby shower gift. It is soft, sweet, and cute! The bee burp cloth is part of the set!

The dish towel of the pears I did for my mother-in-law for Mother's Day last year. I gave her a set of three, this is just one of them.
I have done quite a few things for Lou as well. I did a dress with the same owl from the bib above. I have done several pairs of bloomers. I am obsessed with them!
I look forward to doing some more work for Lou and for a few mommies who have had special deliveries recently. My latest thing is antique infant slips. Instead of using them under dresses I am embroidering them for sweet, cool summer dresses. Thus far I have infant slips from the 1920's, 1930's, and the 1940's in pristine condition! Etsy is my friend!!!!!!

I just completed a bib and burp cloth set as well as a clothing set for one of our friends who had a little girl in May. She also has a big sister that I did a tee-shirt to match her little sister's items.

Though it takes me some time to complete, I enjoy my other hobby. I have been working on something special for Landon for a while. It is very time consuming and large. I really wish I could get it done for his birthday this year. He will be 4 years old on August 12th!!!!!!! We will see!

The Thompson Harvest

We have gathered fruit and veggies from our garden for the past month. Some of our latest harvest has been the best! Above is a picture of a celebrity tomato. We haven't tasted it yet, but it is heavy for it's size and I have feeling will be very good!
Dennis picks anywhere from 5 to 20 tomatoes a day. These are the small variety that include yellow plum, sweet one-hundreds (red), and the yellow pear. They are delicious!

The peppers are very vibrant. We have sweet and hot varieties. We haven't eaten them yet though. I am holding out until we have a few more to grill. The large red one is a gypsy pepper, the orange one is a tequila sunrise, and the red small ones are hot cherry peppers.

We have picked probably 100 blueberries. We have eaten quite a few as well. We noticed last week that the blackberry bush that was crushed by the last storm has blooms on it. Yesterday, the blackberries are formed and will turn a glorious shade of indigo/deep purple in a week or 2.

Our squash is blooming so hopefully we will be harvesting it soon.

We still have a few varieties of tomatoes that are not ready to pick. Those include a marglobe (deep red), black plum (purple), tommy toes (golf ball size and red) and a delicious (red).

We are loving our little garden and look forward to picking grapes soon as well!

Lou's Latest Stats!

We celebrated Lou turning 4 months on July 2nd. We had to wait until this week to go to the doctor due to the 4th of July and the closing of the office.
We went yesterday. She did so well. She was smiling and cooing and looking at herself in the mirror. She loves the mirror!
She weighed 11lbs and 7.5oz and is 23 inches long. She is in the 10th percentile for weight and the 25th for height. Dr. Lana was pleased because Lou is finally on the growth chart. Up to this point, Lou was not on the growth chart for her weight. She is still small but is meeting all her milestones. Mommy and daddy were both very pleased!
We have started Lou on rice cereal and first fruits. I will be making her babyfood just like I made Landon's. Thus far we have just tried a few jars of the organic fruits. She loves it!
Lou has been sleeping through the night since 6 weeks old, so we are very blessed. She is rolling over, sitting in a "tripod" fashion (arms on the side propping her up), and babbling away!
We are looking forward to more firsts from her! But, hopefully they don't come too quickly. It is hard to believe she is already 4 months old. Time has flown even more with her than it did with Landon!

I have taken on another task....

I have been sharing recipes a lot lately (so it seems). I thought one way to share and keep track of them would be through a blog. Now, I have to be honest and say that most recipes I use are tweaked from ones I have read or tried and didn't follow to a "T" (and credit will be given to those sources!) That or I make them up in my head (I do this quite a bit).

You can find it here:
http://lesleysapples.blogspot.com/

So the way this will work is each week I will share a recipe I have tested. If I feel that no tweaking was needed I will give it an "apple" rating. If I made changes (due to taste, not having the needed ingredient handy, etc), I will give it a "bite". If I tested it and I felt it was not worth my time to make or didn't care for it, I will say it was "rotten" (harsh, I know, but it goes with the theme).

Not only that I will offer tips on meals that freeze beautifully (note the Steel Magnolia's reference), meals that please a crowd, nutritious meals for picky eaters (hello, 4 year old!), and homemade baby food (aww, Lou will be my tester!). If I test a gadget I think is worthy, don't worry I will let you know!

I hope you enjoy my apples!

The 4th and Her Feet

We enjoyed a relaxing 4th of July. The 3rd we spent the evening preparing Landon's new swimming pool. Though I say it is Landon's it is for all of us to enjoy during this summer that is sure to get even hotter as we get further into July and August. The 4th we enjoyed an afternoon of playing in the pool before enjoying some BBQ I had slow cooked the day before and some ribs that we had smoked for Memorial day and had frozen a rack for later (a good decision I think!) The night of the 4th we painted Lou's toenails. Poor Lou, her feet are still too tiny for shoes. She is not a fan of socks as she kicks them off whenever she gets the chance. A co-worker of mine suggested painting them. Seriously? I thought to myself. How do you paint baby's toenails. They squirm and wiggle and do all sorts of contortions. Surely this will end with paint everywhere (I thought). In her sleep maybe? No, Lou sleeps with one leg crossed over the other and has done this since birth.

While Dennis fed Lou her last bottle of the night I painted her toes. She kept still for the most part and did pretty good. I had a little touch up to do, but all in all a success! Her little tiny toes looked cute. The color even matched mommy's! (If you know me, you know I like things to match)

We enjoyed church the next day in our matching outfits. We didn't make the boys suffer through that, so they just blended in with mommy and Lou! It was fun and I loved it! Looking down at her toes puts a smile on my face and seeing the picture Dennis took makes me giggle just a bit!

How Does Your Garden Grow?

Over Memorial day weekend we did some yard work. Dennis made me a raised garden bed, which I absolutely adore! We also went to Angel Wings Nursery in Byhalia, MS to get the fruit and vegetable plants for the garden and flower bed. She had tons of plants at great prices. We later found out she is the only nursery left who grows her plants and sells them. Most nurseries buy their plants from whole-sale. We got various types of heirloom tomatoes, some peppers, basil, and 3 blueberry plants.
We normally container garden small veggies each year, but the yields are small. This year the garden box has already been a success. We have harvested some tomatoes and blueberries thus far. By Dennis' count we have over 100 tomatoes growing in every shape, size, and color you can think of (from purple, to yellow, to orange, and of course red!)
Here are some pictures of garden and flower beds.

The big potted plant is my basil which I love to use when I cook. The other picture is of one of my gypsy peppers that we like to grill. In the picture it is tucked beneath a leaf and is light yellow. Now it is orange. The colors range from yellow to red!

The next picture is of my celebrity tomato plant. It now has 2 more growing. These are large, heavy, bright red fruits. We cannot wait to taste them!
The picture that looks like just a bunch of leaves shows the little tomatoes.

These are called sweet 100's and we have already pulled a few off. I think we will be giving them a taste-test this week. There are so many of them!
Though not in the garden box, our blueberries have done well! We have already tasted some and though not one of Dennis' favorite fruits, they are good!

We also have our thriving lavender. Not only does it smell wonderful, the bees love it. We have had some new guests this year, which are electric blue colored dragon flies. Dennis has seen them and says they are really cool looking. I have yet to lay eyes on them, but keep looking!

We also have our grape vines that have taken off again this year. We even had to purchase a larger trellis. Unfortunately, some storms in June broke the trellis and the grapes fell forward crushing my blooming blackberry bush. Looks like no blackberrries this year. The grapes did just fine. We will have to wait until fall to replace the damaged, new trellis. We are looking forward to harvesting our grapes! Right now they are the size of large green peas, some maybe a bit bigger than that!

Each day we check on our little garden. Dennis has been so faithful in watering it each day! Landon has also enjoyed learning about the fruits and vegetables too! We are planning on adding at least one if not 2 more garden boxes next year! Not only has it been nice to dig in the dirt again (like a little kid, though I still hate earth worms!), but hopefully it will save some $$$ since we will have our own produce!

To give credit where credit is due, here is the link to the blog where I found the instructions for the garden box: http://mynew30.blogspot.com/2009/03/how-to-build-raised-bed-vegetable.html

Updates...

Lots of new things are coming soon. We have been so busy lately, I am way behind in posts. This week should allow me some time to catch things up! So until then......

10 weeks and counting....

It has been a whirlwind of activity and events since heading back to work on April 20th. After the first week of work, Dennis and me drove to Nashville to see Dave Matthews Band. It was our solo trip without the kids as an early wedding anniversay gift to each other. Our norm each summer is to see DMB when they are on tour. Since being married we have only missed 2007 due to the closure of Starwood in Antioch, TN and the band playing no where near us. Needless to say, the show was awesome (as usual). The new material is great and I cannot wait to receive the delux album set Dennis pre-ordered for me for my Mother's Day gift! I even got a DMB shirt with an owl on it (yes, only few would be so excited about this and I know who you are!) As Dennis rolls his eyes and thinks.....another owl shirt; just what she needs. Oh well..

Lou had her 2 month appointment on May 1st. She got 3 shots and 1 oral vaccination. She cried and cried. Unlike Landon who let out a yelp and it was all over. It really seemed to bother her more. She is in the 5th percent for weight and the 50th percent for height. Maybe she won't end up with mommy's short gene afterall!

Lou has settled into her little routine. Meemaw (my mom) watches her each day unless daddy has the day off. He has been playing "mister mom" on Mondays until the end of May. He had extra vacation time to use before the end of the fiscal year. Dennis, Landon, and Lou came to St. Jude to have lunch with me which was really nice. Lou is sleeping through the night and has been doing so consistently since about 6 weeks or so. Thank goodness for that, because by the end of the day I am exhausted and need my sleep!

Baby Dedication at church was on Mother's Day which was very special. Lou looked adorable, of course (I am a little partial though). Lou has been cooing up a storm and "talking" as well. She also has been drooling and raking her tongue over her gums. I am guessing this is the beginning of teething? Landon began getting teeth at 3 months, so I guess it is not impossible. She hasn't been overly fussy, no fever. Maybe irritated, but that's all thus far. I am keeping my fingers crossed that it isn't too bad for us.

Lou is 10 weeks this week. Time is really flying even more than it did with Landon I think. I am looking forward to things to come with her. I am not wishing time away though! I am sure before we know it she will be a year old and I will be wondering where the time went and why I have so many more grey hairs.

Shhh! That's why I highlight my hair. Oh vanity......

This little piggy...

Went to market....
Ok, we all know how it goes. What I really cannot fathom is the fact that we are dealing with a world-wide health issue. This problem stems from an area of poverty with little or no access to proper health care. Supposedly, a small village in Mexico was where the "swine flu" illness originated.

The name "swine flu" is incorrect because really the A-H1N1 2009 flu is a combination of the human flu, avian (bird) flu, and swine flu. Though many Americans are vaccinated each year, the vaccination may not prevent the A-H1N1 2009 flu.

It seems like our European/International counter-parts are taking proper precautions by screening at airports, providing face masks, denying imports of pork/pork products (even though the meat is supposedly not the vehicle for transmission), and suspending travel in/from Mexico. Though it is obviously too late to contain the virus in Mexico, I think America is missing a valid point.

My rationale stems from a local news report I just read. It makes me angry to think we are doing nothing in Memphis, TN to keep the transmission of this virus at bay. Basically we are welcoming the big, bad germs to our city with open arms and with southern hospitality (like we normally do). "Welcome ya'll, come on in, make yourself at home". I can just hear us saying...
Greyhound bus brings at least 5 buses into Memphis each day that come directly from Mexico or by way of Houston, Texas. A woman was interviewed today after arriving in Memphis from vacation in Mexico with her daughters. Both of her daughters were exhibiting symptoms of a virus (nausea, vomiting, diarrhea). The sad thing is that woman's daughters exposed every man, woman, and child on the bus to a virus, and possibly the A-H1N1 2009 flu. Not only did they expose everyone on the bus, they have exposed those at the bus stations, those innocent people at gas stations, those at places to eat along the way while traveling, each wash-room they used, and now into the city of Memphis. And, I have to wonder how often this woman, her daughters, and everyone else on the bus washed or sanitized their hands. I am sure not often enough! So with every surface they have touched/will touch along the way they are infecting others. Again, WELCOME to MEMPHIS A-H1N1 FLU!
Come on, America, let's use a little common sense and at least stop travel coming in from Mexico without proper screening. Let's screen at airports/bus stations/train stations and not allow travelers with symptoms to visit our city without testing/quarantine/treatment. If Europe and other international cities are following these guidelines, why aren't we? What makes America any different/better than them? Nothing, we are all humans. We all have germs and can get each other sick.

So, what now? For heaven's sake people, please WASH YOUR HANDS, COVER YOUR MOUTH and NOSE WHEN SNEEZING/COUGHING, SEE A DOCTOR IF SICK, STAY HOME OR KEEP YOUR KID AT HOME IF YOU/THEY ARE ILL. This news report I read hits home that it is really already too late to prevent the H1N1 Flu from invading our city or anyone else's for that matter.

Well, I guess I can get off my soap-box now and go wash up with it. I have no idea where all the little piggies have been today.......

Time Flies-We have a daughter!

I have fallen behind in my posting, but for good reason. We welcomed Natalee Louise "Lou" Thompson into the world on March 2,2009 at 6:36pm. She weighed 7lbs 9oz and was 20 inches long. Her arrival was eventful, or should I say the days leading up to her arrival were eventful.

I was placed on bed rest at 33 weeks for pre-term labor and pregnancy induced hypertension (high blood pressure). I went into the hospital 3 times for observation due to the issues that placed me on bed rest. The Friday (2/27) and the Sunday (3/1) prior to Lou's arrival I spent in the hospital because of my high blood pressure. That Saturday (2/28) we received a blanket of snow in Memphis. I came down with a sinus infection that weekend and was miserable from that as well as being so incredibly pregnant! It seemed every time I went in to the hospital my blood pressure would decrease enough to be able to go home. However, on that Monday while at my weekly visit, my blood pressure was elevated again and my doctor thought it best to go ahead with an emergency c-section to make sure baby was ok.

The c-section went well. Lou came out just fine and was healthy with apgars of 9/9. My blood pressure and slight swelling resolved almost immediately after delivery. Because of the sinus infection, I lost my voice. I greeted guests and nurses with nothing more than whisper. But, I was happy to finally meet my little girl! We both did so well we were able to go home less than 48 hours after birth.

Since then, we have been getting settled in as a family of 4 now. Landon is a great big brother and even helps with diaper changes! Dennis was home for the first week and half, which was wonderful.

At her 2 week check-up Lou weighed 7lbs 5oz. She is a very good eater, but seems to be following her brother's footsteps in being a slow gainer. She is now one month old and weighs 7lbs 10oz which is above her birth weight, but not quite enough to make the doctor happy, so we will be working even harder to see if she can put on some more weight.

Over the past few weeks we have enjoyed walks in the stroller, outings to Babies R Us and Target, dinner with grandma, and lunch with meemaw, the aunts, and cousins Kathy and Garrett. Lou has begun smiling, sticking our her tongue, and tracking objects with her eyes. She hates having her diaper changed and is not fond of changing clothes either.

Mommy heads back to work on April 20th :( Lou will be in good hands though, as meemaw will be watching her until daycare can take her (she has been on the waiting list since we found out we were pregnant last August!)

Landon got accepted into the kindergarten program. He will begin K-4 in August! I am so proud of him! He is growing and learning everyday. He says the blessing each night before dinner and now remembers to thank Jesus for his baby sister too!

Spring is finally upon us! We are looking forward to Lou's first trip to the zoo this weekend (weather and pollen permitting!)

Bed Rest It Is...

Look's like Lou is trying to keep things interesting for us. As I mentioned before, I was in labor and delivery last Friday for issues. Though they improved a little, I am still having contractions and my blood pressure (though not as high when I was pregnant with Landon) is creeping up.
My doctor's solution was taking me off work. So here I sit at home, watching Food Network and thinking of all the things I could/should be doing. It's hard when you want to nest and are told to keep off your feet and not do any heavy lifting!
Oh well, it is for the best. If we can just make it a couple more weeks things won't be too bad for me or for Lou!

An Early Trip to Labor & Delivery

I may add an unwanted one! Friday afternoon at work I wasn't feeling quite right. My co-worker commented on my flushed face. Not long after I had a nose bleed and a jump in blood pressure (one good thing about working with other nurses for sure!). I called my doctor and was told since I was feeling badly I needing to be taken to labor and delivery. I was told not to drive there. So Dennis came and fetched me from work. We got checked in and in a room by 4 and didn't leave until after 10 that evening.
The blood pressure turned out to be a non-issue. However, once on the monitors they discovered I was contracting every 3 minutes. I thought they were just the fake ones (known as Braxton Hicks). I was wrong. I was given IV fluids but they did not slow. I was then given Terbutaline injections twice. The medication is awful! I felt like my heart was going to jump out of my chest. Though the contractions didn't stop, they slowed down enough and were small enough (not so intense). I was able to go home. Luckily the baby was fine through all of this. We are just hoping she stays put a little longer and continues to bake. I don't think we will make it to March 11th, but if we can at least hold off until she is 35 weeks I will be happy.
The contractions have continued over the weekend. Some are not that bad and others kind of stop me in my tracks. The doctor had no clue what was causing the contractions either. I head back to my OB this Friday (it may be sooner). I am hoping for at least a stable report!
Our last two weeks have been anything but uneventful. With Landon's seizures and my early labor issues, it has been quite something.
On a side note, Landon is doing much better. He is over his illness. No more fever. No more seizures. We are just hoping it will be a while if never that he has another seizure!
Hang on baby Lou, you need to bake a little bit longer!

Please keep our son in your thoughts and prayers...

We have had an eventful week, but not one we want to re-live any time soon (or ever really). We got a call on Tuesday from daycare that Landon had a fever. I thought, no big deal, take him to the doctor and figure out the cause and all would be fine. Not so much. We go to the doctor and they tell us he has the beginnings of bronchitis and to treat with antibiotics and motrin. On our way we went to get the medicine.
We were over half way home when we noticed Landon got really quiet. Then we noticed a strange noise. We look back at him and he is having a seizure. We pull over, call 911, and are taken via ambulance to the hospital for evaluation. Landon had a seizure when he was 1 1/2 that was due to high fever. This seizure was similar to the first one. Upon arrival to the hospital we found out Landon's temperature was 104. We aren't sure how high it was when he had the seizure. Febrile seizures are not caused by how high the fever but how quickly it rises or even falls. It was just such a shock to know it was 104 in the ER.
Needless to say we have been watching him closely. Because he has now had 2 seizures he is more prone to getting another one when he has fever. This news is very unsettling.
This is the part that I am not so happy I am a nurse. Knowing too much is as bad as knowing nothing. We go back to the doctor this afternoon for a check-up and to see if anything else needs to be (neurologist visit, etc). Not to scare any of you moms out there, but I just wanted to ask for your thoughts/prayers during this time.

Nursery Progress

We started working on the nursery today. We have been doing some little by little. But today we began the major preparations. We moved Landon out of the nursery the weekend after Christmas. He now has the whole upstairs to himself. So far, so good. He loves his new big boy room and his new sea life bathroom.
The nursery needs to be repainted, so today we wiped down all the walls, and removed nails. Tomorrow Dennis will patch holes. Next weekend while I enjoy a much needed prenatal massage and day at the spa, Dennis and my dad will paint the room.
I changed out the hardware on the dresser and armoire today. It made a huge difference in the pieces of furniture.
The bedding should be here any day now. I think the nursery will be very fun and girly for Lou. I picked out bedding in black, white, and hot pink. It is a french damask print that goes perfect with my theme of boutique style. The mobiles above the crib and the changing table are purses and high-heel shoes. I can't wait to see the finished results!
Now for a little rest before my Birthday dinner. We are going out, just me and Dennis for hopefully a quiet dinner. I am now 30 weeks along and it is catching up with me!
